  1. Very thought provoking questions. I’m struck by how much we care about our reputation, and that in this passage Mary’s reputation is going to be scarred by those who will choose not to believe what she has been told about the child she is bearing, including friends and family. I wonder what things we are called to that might have similar costs for us.

  2. I’m humbled and challenged by Mary’s quick submission to what could be so hard and almost guarantees her to be misunderstood, even shamed, by many for years to come. As we face strange opposition on campus this week, I’m encouraged that people’s responses to the gospel does not mean a lack of God’s favor. May we be unafraid, the Lord’s servants, as Mary chose to be.
